Geko's SuperSlope Cross Dashboard

Post by shirow »

Hi,
Can anyone help me understand how the Css Slope atr period parameter affects the ea?
Is there an indicator where I can see it in action?

I would like to test it and it seems very strange to keep the 50 as an atr on different time frames like H1 / H4 and M15.
Thank you

Read this post: https://stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3/vi ... 03#p164503 and then move on. There has been no interest in this thread for a couple of years. Geko has not visited this forum for nearly a year.

I am reproducing the Welcome message that I send to new members, at the end of this post. This tells you what to move on to.

I am locking this thread.

:xm: :rocket:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is the Welcome message I send to new members:

A warm welcome to all our new members. In light of the slightly threatening nature of what you are about to read in the next paragraph, let me say this: I am on your side. So is the whole of SHF. You are amongst friends here. Take your time reading this message; there is a lot to take in here alone.

A quick warning folks. SHF is a meritocracy, not a democracy. People earn the right to post freely by posting intelligently. I have zero tolerance of people who show by their demented posts that they have not read mine. I am this forum's owner and if you post in such a way that shows you have not read my posts, I will savage you in public. Show that you have not read the post 1 in my threads properly, or any of the User Guides that you are required to read, and I will delete your registration without warning. You might not like this in prospect but give it time and you will appreciate it. SHF is a bullshit-free zone. Moving on:

You have picked the right time to join SHF. The last year has seen the development of two fantastic trading tools.

The first is Slopey Peaky Bob, a successful auto-trader that we are all trading profitably. It is far and away the best EA ever produced here. Experienced traders, download and read about him at viewtopic.php?p=159559#p159559. There is a simplified version to get you started quickly and easily – the 10,000 pips version. There is a full bells and whistles version as well with a host of extra features; read about them both in the user guide. There is also a new family of SPB inspired bots at viewtopic.php?p=167834#p167834 but avoid thrashing around helplessly and go to SPB first; take your time.

I am catering here for inexperienced traders, or even those of you with no experience. The attached, “Forex trading – getting started” zip file contains everything you need to start from scratch and get trading. Park it somewhere convenient, open it and start by reading part 1 of the guide.

The second is the development of a trading tool whose scope is breathtaking in its concept. I consider it to be the most significant thing to have emerged from our forum – or any other. I have written a, “Welcome to Tdesk. Read this to get started” post. Thomas has added four more posts with some more explanation. Find it at viewtopic.php?p=163890#p163890 There are links in post 1 to quick-and-east getting started trading systems. You download TDesk from
viewtopic.php?p=163522#p163522

I am creating the trading drone that will trade the signals generated by TDesk. Find it at http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... 49#p164249.

TDesk is not immediately simple to grasp, so take your time reading what it is all about. Your time will be well rewarded.

Thomas is developing a family of helper drones so that we do not need to adapt individual indicators to make them TDesk-compatible. Read about them at viewtopic.php?p=167161#p167161

All this software runs on the Empty4 platform. For US citizens trading with OANDA, Johnah is developing software that allows you to run the Empty4 programs on a Global Prime demo (I talk about GP further down) and then imitates this behaviour on your OANDA platform. http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... 52#p165552

Silent lurkers
Silent lurkers are welcome here at SHF; you have the right idea. There are no kudos for volume of posts. Lurk silently to your hearts' content. Say nothing if you have nothing useful or intelligent to say. Make a noise when you have nothing useful or intelligent to say, and I will delete your registration without warning. If in doubt, stay quiet. Speak when you have learned enough to speak intelligently and you will be instantly recognised as a valued member. There are valued members here who went from zero to hero in a couple of days after years of silent membership.

Our own brokerage firm
Once you are familiar with Jem's work, you will recognise him as the star that he truly is. Here is the best news. He runs a brokerage firm – Global Prime. You can trade with Global Prime confident in the knowledge that they will not use the usual range of dirty tricks to part you from your account deposit. It would be hard to miss the forum that highlights GP, but just in case you have missed it somehow, here is the link: http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... =52&t=1394 They received a rave review from a new client with specialised needs – read it at http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... 585#p85585 Also read this at http://www.forexpeacearmy.com/public/re ... ime.com.au Forex Peace Army are not noted for their friendship towards brokers, so an endorsement there is worth a lot.

In the same subforum, I have added a thread explaining the difference between the various types of 'broker' and why you should sign up with Global Prime to avoid all the nasty tricks the pretend-brokers get up to: http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... =52&t=1475

I only trade through Global Prime.

Make your lives easier
You will find yourself setting up a lot of charts. There is software contributed by members of SHF that saves hours of faffing around. Go to http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... =21&t=4643 for links to what is available. Put “Open Charts in Alphabetical Order Indicator” into the Indicators folder of your platform. Put “Charts Into Alphabetical Order script” into your scripts folder. Close down and restart the platform. Use the “Open Charts in Alphabetical Order Indicator” to set up the charts you wish to open – it will crash your platform so you will have to restart it and delete the indicator. Set up a chart as you want it to look and then run ““Charts Into Alphabetical Order script” to populate the rest of your charts. Full instructions in post 1 of the thread.

After Slopey Peaky Bob and TDesk, the other first places to visit are the “Gold Mine Threads”
These are the threads that I am familiar with whose participants are consistently making profits.

Manual trading threads:

Bob's (nanningbob) SUPER CSS-2.0 Read about it at http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... =88&t=4888 then download the latest version of the indi from http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... 88#p146488 Truly folks, trading systems have never come simpler than this. Slopey Peaky Bob is successful because of this indi.

Bob's Holy Grail Indicator
People are making a bomb out of the Holy Grail Indicator. Bob has come up with a concept that tells use when to trade and exit, and when not to trade. Elixe and milanese have coded this into an indicator, coding which is breathtaking in its scope and execution. Visit Bob's Holy Grail Indicator thread at http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... 44#p105044 right now. Immediately, Go. Now.

HGI has revolutionised trading. All we have to do is react to its signals. Visit the relevant chart when you hear an alert and do what HGI tells you to do. An infant could trade with this indi.

Renexxxx has a great-looking Matrix at http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... 62#p105462

So guys, not only do we have Bob's amazing HGI but we have fabulous tools to help us use them (including some automation – see below). Try them out and see what works for you.

-----------------------------------------------

US citizens, check out spgandau's thread at http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... 60#p117460. He has come up with ways of getting around the absurd FIFO rules.

There are a number of groups that you might care to join. Read the details in my Welcome thread at http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... php?p=2#p2 This also contains a description of what the individual forums are all about.

Our Commercial Section
We have a section devoted to stuff developed by our members that is available for some sort of fee/license. Criminal bollocks is not allowed here, and crims quickly get their bollocks removed.

Here is a rare thing – a commercial product that I endorse. Read about it at http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... 07#p151107. My critical endorsement is in post 2 of the thread.

There is a commercial VPS service run by one of our members. I use it; it is fantastic. Read about it at http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... 50#p156450

Weekly round up
Every week I post a round up at market open, detailing stuff of interest to members that they may have missed. You can join this group by clicking the 'Subscribe to Steve's weekly round-ups' link near the top of the board index. I post a copy of this at http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... =10&t=2294 Unless I have forgotten, I have attached the latest one to this pm so you can see the sort of thing I write. You could be seeing a copy in advance if today is Sunday.

Early posts moderation
My apologies to those of you whose early posts were held up as being subject to moderator approval. This forum is under constant attack from spammers and spam robots. The management (that is Me and my Trusted Aides) is determined to keep this a happy and helpful place to be Ensuring that a new member is not posting a link for, say, penis enhancements does a lot to keep this place clean. Yes, I know you are not one of these people, or you would not be reading this; the restriction is to keep away the people who do not read it. I hope this explanation satisfies you.

There is a group that is called, 'On moderation.' Members of this group can do nothing apart from reading threads. I add new members to this when I see that their user name is nonsense – qw66eer5e4 kind of thing. This tends to be a bit of a giveaway that the 'new user' is actually a spambot. Get in touch with me if you find yourself on this list and are actually a genuine new member.

SHF no-no's.
There are two things you need to avoid discussing under any circumstances:
  • Martingale: you will be seduced by this if you are new to Forex and meet it for the first time. The principle is simple: double your lot size every time you close a trade at a loss and the eventual, inevitable winner will recover your losses.
    • it is only 9 steps until your lot size is over 5 lots. You will have blown your account a long time before reaching that stage.
    • If Martingaling worked, everyone who ever traded the Forex markets would be filthy, stinking rich. It doesn't, so we aren't. Here is a useful thread: http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... ?f=5&t=547
  • Backtesting, either as a paper exercise or testing EA's in Empty4's Strategy Tester. This thread explains why: http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... =28&t=4020. Do not make the serious mistake of trying to argue that it does have value in evaluating a trading system; you will get into trouble with the mods. Strategy Tester is useful for testing that EA/Indi/Script code is working as the coder intends.
And finally, about me
I am a pianist and piano teacher. If you enjoy teen lunacy and want a few laughs at my expense, then visit this thread: http://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3 ... 559#p84559

In my spare time, I learned to program in a variety of different computer languages, always for my business purposes. I came across Forex trading in 2006 and joined what claims to be the largest Forex forum – ForexFactory.com I quickly allied my interest in coding with producing about 5 trading EA's a week, EA's that I made freely available at FF.

I built an international reputation from these activities and so was able to start this forum in November of 2011. FF members joined here and this forum took the shape it now has – an unparalleled meeting of the most talented, creative and generous Forex traders available on the planet. I benefit from their expertise every day of my life.

In conclusion
Have fun guys. The rest of us are.

Cheers
Read the effing manual, ok?

Afterprime is the official SHF broker. Read about them at https://www.stevehopwoodforex.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=175790#p175790.

I still suffer from OCCD. Good thing, really.

Anyone here feeling generous? My paypal account is always in the market for a tiny donation. [email protected] is the account.
