Odyssey EA

Post by franknf1 »

Hi,
I would like to invite comments, suggestions and improvements to this EA that i put together.
It s based on the idea of RENKO blocks, in that it places pending orders at parameter driven 'bricks'(ie no of pips) from current price (one cancels other if active) and then monitors for a close of a trade when it does it all over again.
The idea is that RENKO bars are pure price action and looking at them, they seem to trend pretty regularly.
I found that trailing stops do not seem to augment this EA, but I only backtested for the last 6 weeks to see if it was viable.
It seemed to backtest OK(set files included), but I know that backtesting is unreliable.
Still, it seems to be profitable.
As it is straight price action, timeframe is immaterial.

I am going to run it in forward test on a demo over a few different pairs.

AsI said earlier, comments, suggestions etc are invited and would be appreciated

Thanks for sharing. If i may verify does this EA do Renko internally somehow and go on a regular chart or do i need to use a Renko generated offline chart for the EA?

bshoe24,
The EA is a very simple thing inspired by RENKO blocks.
It just places pending trades so many 'bricks' away, IE 2 15 pip bricks =30 pips margin point.
Note all entries stop loss/take profit/marginpoint are in for 5 digit broker,points(Ie 150 points = 15 p[ips).

No additional indicators are required.

Ran a quick BT for 2012-2013 EURUSD using set provided... results not too outstanding but good effort.

I have been testing and modifying this ea for the last few months intermittently.
I am forward testing with the attached set files, and so far it is profitable.
I dont use trailing stop as it seems to hinder the performance.

I am happy enough with this ea, but if anybody has any suggestions to enhance it, I would be very appreciative.
It seems like a simple idea, but it works.
