Balls to the Wall, a 1 minute 1 trade EA

Post by SteveHopwood »

SERIOUS WARNING
  • Most Forex traders lose all their money.
    Using the robot posted here in trading Forex does not guarantee success.
    Trading this robot could lead to serious financial loss.
    Trading this robot without understanding its underlying trading strategies guarantees traders will lose their money.
    This is not a set-and-forget ea; there is no such thing and anyone who tries to claim there is, is either stupid or lying. This ea requires frequent manual intervention.
    At best, a trading robot is only 90% as good as the manual strategy it trades. At best. At worst, it can be much less effective. If the strategy is rubbish, so is the robot.
    To trade this robot, you have to understand:
    • - How to use EA's.
      - How to tell the time
      - Stochastic and MACD do help, although you can always go with the flow until they make sense.
I am not yet trading this EA on my live account

Introduction and conclusion

I think I have explained everything in the pdf. The pdf contains my understanding of Paulus' system. I also attach the .odt document (Open Office Text - download for free if you merely Google 'Open Office') in case I have misunderstood anything and anyone here can improve the document.

Don't bother reading the thread, guys; just read the pdf. It explains everything with a reasonable degree of clarity, then skip to the end of the thread to catch up with anything new.

Have fun. Let's see if this Alligator has a decent set of teeth.

Subsequent edits
Manually replacing the yellow line
Should you wish to do this whilst experimenting on demo:
  • - draw a horizontal line at the price level you want.
    - double-click the line to 'select' it, right click and select 'Horizontal line properties' then the 'Common' tab.
    - rename the line with the text in your LowLineName input, by default "European low line."
Wolfie's Balls
This is a second version of the EA that relies on Slope and abandons the yellow line. Details at

Does anything special need to be done for this to backtest? On all default settings EUR/USD any TF it doesn't do anything.

The EA does not like us and does not want to trade with history data since that is not real and no fun.

You can't. Lot size is determined by risk and the particular trades stop loss. You enter a risk percent in the settings. I haven't read the document yet, but it is probably in the file posted by Steve.

Beat me to it while I was reading the code, George. :D Yes firesword, the doc mentions 5% per trade risk. You can modify that with the RiskPercent input.

Gary.
We must stop meeting like this.

I did wonder about the other conditions. I have set everything after "----Trading balance filters----" to false, unless the input is numeric which I have left as default values 'cause I don't think they are used.

Anyone know better ?

Hi STeve and all,
with all the risk talk here i had to check up on my car;
how does 'Gone in 60 seconds EA' sound?
or something like that,... catchy movie name!!

and looking at the lot sizes;
'Balls to the wall EA'

and my favorite;
'Paulus likes it once a day EA' or' Paulus on the edge'

hehe, hope you all have a great week-end.
cuzgeorge.
ps: going to run this on one chart EURUSD only. definately not going to risk on any high spread pairs.

Bug in CalculateStopLoss & CalculateTakeProfit causing lotsize not to be calc'd and hence no backtest. Don't know whats wrong yet, just commented and hardcoded values for debug test.
